Chislehurst Youth for Christ is committed to working with local churches who want to provide a place for young people to meet with friends, or do outreach work in the community, or to help them explore the Christian faith. If you would like to know how we can support your church please get in touch.
We have links with many churches in and around the Bromley area. The charity plays an active role in the Churches Together in Chislehurst and Bickley network, as well as Transform Bromley Borough (TBB) – a network of churches working together relationally to be a blessing to the borough.
Our youth team supports ‘Fuel’, a youth club held in the St Barnabas Church hall in St Paul’s Cray, each Friday. The club sees up to 40 young people coming each week to hang out with friends, take part in sports activities, crafts or games. There is a team of wonderful volunteers who help out. We alternate our activities between club nights, which are open to all young people who want to come along, and trips, where we take a smaller number of young people to take part in a specific activity.
We also provide advice, support and training to churches, charities and other organisations, where needed, to help share knowledge and expertise that will benefit young people. For example, in 2024 we led the youth group sessions for a local church
We run a youth worship club where young people with an interest in music and faith spend time learning, playing and singing contemporary worship songs. The band have played at St Barnabas Church, a Churches Together event, and at the charity’s 20th anniversary thanksgiving service in 2024. They have also led the worship at our youth worship nights, which bring young people together to worship Jesus.
Music is something that brings people together and that everyone can be part of; our music workshop in the 2025 May half-term provided around 20 young people interested in singing or playing music with the opportunity to have input from our youth workers and professional musicians and singers.
Supporting youth workers (paid or voluntary) from local churches to meet, share and pray together is something we love to do. We host church youth workers’ forums at our office, providing a meal and a relaxed opportunity for youth workers to share and worship together. We also have one-to-one informal meetings with church youth workers, over a coffee, sharing ideas and providing prayer and support where needed.
